Just finished performing endovenous closure on a 50 yr old woman who has suffered for 10 years or more with nonhealing right anterior and medial leg ulcers.  She had suffered trauma to her right leg years before and has orthopedic surgery to repair the broken bones.

The ulcer occured years later and because she had no obvious varicose veins or other obvious signs of venous disease, her ulcer was ascribed to her trauma. She had undergone 2 different skin grafts both of which failed. (See Below)

Her ultrasound evaluation revealed severe rt great saphenous vein insufficiency from the groin all the way down into the ulcer base. Well, this morning she underwent laser ablation of the rt great saphneous vein which took about 30 minutes. As she was getting into her car, I went out to check on her and she remarked to me how her leg felt better already, without the pressure sensation she had become all too used to.
