When you first walk into our Vein Specialists offices, you will be warmly greeted by a friendly face and checked in for your appointment. You will be asked to present identification and insurance cards and given a few forms to complete. A medical assistant will kindly call you back to an exam room to check your blood pressure and ask a few more questions about your symptoms. You will then be introduced to Dr. Magnant or a nurse practitioner who will complete your medical history and further assess your vein signs and symptoms. After a thorough explanation of vein disease, you will be given written information that you may take home to further review. The provider will discuss any further testing or evaluation that may be required to accurately determine your diagnosis. The medical assistant will escort you to our scheduling desk to make any necessary future appointments.
At Vein Specialists, you will be impressed to find our Vascular Laboratory utilizes the latest in modern ultrasound technology, as well as meeting IAC Standards Vascular Laboratory Accreditation which is awarded through the rigorous and highly specific standards set by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) which our laboratory is designated. Our Vein Specialist technologists are highly trained in venous anatomy and have acquired either the Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Vascular Sonographer (RVS) credentials or is actively pursuing this achievement through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
At your ultrasound appointment, you will be escorted to one of our relaxing exam rooms, where the ultrasound is performed and the sonographer can briefly answer any questions you have before the exam begins. The ultrasound scan uses sound wave energy to create images which are then used to evaluate the veins within your body. Ultrasound is a painless, safe, and non-invasive method of imaging. Typically, a transducer (small handheld device) with a pre-warmed water based gel is applied to the skin over the area of evaluation. Generally no preparation is needed before an ultrasound, however, on occasion a patient may be asked to fast for a short period of time prior to their ultrasound appointment.
Upon completion of your ultrasound, the actual images are digitally forwarded to our reading physicians for technical reporting and final review. The results of your vascular laboratory visit as well as any treatment plan, if deemed necessary, will be discussed in detail with you on your follow up appointment with one of our Physicians or Advanced Nurse Practitioners. Again, if there are any remaining questions, please feel comfortable to ask, it is our pleasure to make you feel welcome and to serve you here at Vein Specialists!
