Patient: Female

Background: The patient had previously experienced discomfort in her lower abdomen, pelvis and groin due to a narrowing (stenosis) of about 65% in the left common and external iliac veins.

Diagnosis and Testing: A specialized imaging test called intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) was used to diagnose the vein narrowing.

Treatment: The patient underwent a procedure where the narrowed veins were opened using a balloon (angioplasty) and a small metal tube (stent) was placed to keep the veins open.

Results (One Month After Procedure): At her follow-up visit one month later, the patient reports complete relief from the discomfort she had experienced. An ultrasound shows the stent is wide open with good blood flow.

Plan Going Forward: The patient will continue taking blood-thinning medications, Xarelto and Plavix, as prescribed. She will return in two months for another ultrasound check. If imaging remains stable, her medication will be adjusted to aspirin.

Summary: The patient had a significant narrowing in her left iliac veins causing pelvic and groin discomfort. After angioplasty and stent placement, she is now symptom-free with the vein open and functioning well. Ongoing care will help maintain these results.
