Dr. Joseph Magnant, owner and founder of Vein Specialists, earned his Doctorate in Medicine and performed his General Surgery internship and residency at the Medical College of Virginia Hospitals in Richmond, Virginia. He completed his Vascular Surgery fellowship at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover, New Hampshire and is certified by the American Board of Surgery in Vascular Surgery.
General Surgeon & Vein Expert
Dr. Patrick Nero is board certified in general surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He received his medical degree from The Ohio State University and completed his residency at the Phoenix Integrated Surgical Residency Program in Arizona. Prior to joining Vein Specialists, Dr. Nero practiced with the Sisters of Saint Mary (SSM) Health System in St. Louis. Prior to SSM Health, Dr. Nero was the chief of surgery at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas, where he was a clinical assistant professor of surgery for the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita and was actively involved in Resident Education.
Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner
Sharon Spoede, ARNP, joined Vein Specialists in April 2014. She assists Dr. Magnant and Dr. Nero in performing new patient, preoperative and postoperative evaluations as well as injection sclerotherapy and VeinGogh™ cosmetic venous treatments for spider veins and other small vascular lesions.
Family Nurse Practitioner
April Stowers, MSN, FNP, joined Vein Specialists in October 2015. She assists Dr. Magnant and Dr. Nero in performing new patient, preoperative and postoperative evaluations as well as community and physician educational outreaches. April evaluates patients at the Bonita Springs and Fort Myers offices.
Registered Vascular Technologist
Melissa Powers joined Vein Specialists in the summer of 2015. Melissa was born in Cape Coral, FL. She graduated from Mariner High School in 1999. She earned her Associates of Science Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography at Keiser University in 2013. Melissa received her RVT registry in 2015. Melissa enjoys spending time with her family and has one lovely child.
Chelsea Bastin joined the team in July of 2015. Chelsea is from Cape Coral, FL. Bastin graduated from Ida Baker High School in 2009. She earned her Associates of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography at Southwest Florida College in March of 2015.
Brian Sapp joined Vein Specialists in 2015. Brian achieved his certificate in Cardiovascular Science, General Ultrasound and OB/GYN at an Ultrasound Diagnostic School in 1997. Sapp has over 19 years of ultrasound experience, 18 of which have been dedicated to vascular testing. Since 2006, Sapp has also performed over 100 hands-on clinical ultrasound training courses at facilities across the United States. These include courses on physiologic testing, venous insufficiency testing, arterial duplex and bypass graft testing, trans-cranial doppler, renal and mesenteric artery duplex and cerebral vascular testing. In addition to clinical ultrasound exams, Sapp is also responsible for ongoing training of ultrasound technologists and for maintaining the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL) accreditation.
Michelle Ciuffetelli joined Vein Specialists in August 2015. She was born in Syracuse, New York and moved to SW Florida in 1986. She joins our team with clinical background as well as Team Management and Team Building. Michelle is married to her husband, Michael and they have two wonderful daughters, Mia and Gianna. She enjoys family, friends, outdoor activities, and football.
Laura Shue joined Vein Specialists in October 2010. Laura received her BS in Accounting from Goldey Beacom College in Wilmington, DE. She has been married for 37 years to her husband Gene. They have three children and three granddaughters, Ava, Mia, and Caroline. Laura enjoys staying active, is a huge Philadelphia sports fan, and loves spending time with her family.
Wendy Zarozny joined Vein Specialists in 2013. Wendy has over 20 years experience in medical billing. She attended the business school, Sawyer Institute in Pittsburgh. Wendy is originally from Pittsburg, PA but relocated to South West Florida in 2013. She enjoys cooking, baking, going to the beach, and spending time with her family.

Melissa Kosezsa joined Vein Specialists in 2013. Melissa was born in Illinois and moved to Fort Myers 14 years ago. She graduated from SWFL College in 2004 and has been working in the medical field for 13 years. She has a daughter and a son. Melissa enjoys working out and spending time with her family.
Carolina Humphries joined Vein Specialists in 2010. She graduated from SWFL College in Surgical Technology. She loves college football and is a huge Florida Gator fan.
Michelle Nielsen joined Vein Specialists in 2015. Michelle was born and raised in Fort Myers. She attended Florida State University and graduated with a BS in Exercise Science and a minor in Psychology. An interesting fact about Michelle is that she has a fifteen year old bunny rabbit. She loves the Florida Seminole football team, the beach, and sunshine.
Lisa Greco joined Vein Specialists in spring of 2015. Lisa was born in Berwin, Illinois and moved to Florida in 1980. She worked in the dental field for sixteen years and in the surgical field for twelve years. Lisa trained in BLS, ACLS, DAANCE, expanded studies for oral and maxillofacial surgical assistant studies. Lisa has 3 amazing children and loves spending time with her family.

Alba Deleon joined Vein Specialists in October of 2010 and has been working in the medical field since 2004. As a mother of two beautiful children and married for thirteen years, her two favorite pastimes are spending time with her family and dancing. Alba is originally from the Dominican Republic and she speaks fluent Spanish. “It has been an amazing experience working with this team!” states Alba.

Patty Boren joined Vein Specialists in 2014. Patty has worked in the medical field for over thirty years. She was born in Chicago, IL but moved to SWFL in July, 2014. In her free time, Patty likes to cook Italian food, make beaded jewelry and crochet baby blankets.
